Who Can Participate:

If you lost your home; are still evacuated; are hosting a group of evacuees; or if you are just tired and need a wholesome lunch or dinner for you and/or your family, please come and pick up a meal to go, no questions asked.

“Sonoma Family Meal” features food donated by local farms, ranches, and restaurants, prepared with love by some of the best chefs in the Bay Area and Sonoma county. Restaurant writer Heather Irwin is a key organizer and helped bring the program to Sonoma County in partner with local chefs, farms, schools and organizations.

Heather, Restaurant Writer at Bite Club Eats and beyond plus her rockstar team,m have worked tirelessly since the programs creation. Sonoma County residents are lucky to call her one of their own.

Also having to evacuate her own family during the Santa Rosa firestorm, she returned to the region ready to help. Her daughter Lucy has been instrumental in helping the program as well as her son with both being found in the kitchen and around the food distribution centers, a true family affair.

Heather says it BEST: “This project is about feeding our entire community nourishing and delicious meals donated with so much love from the restaurant and chef community.”

John Ash Vintners Inn Conference & Event Center will host the kitchen for “Sonoma Family Meal,” a community-based program supplying fresh, healthy “to-go” meals to anyone in need. With meals being transported directly to families in need at the Santa Rosa Veterans Center, a central location for Sonoma County residents.

This community giving program started shortly after the Sonoma firestorm, serving meals at Franchetti’s Worth Our Weight and Santa Rosa Junior College Culinary Center on previous weeks.

Pickup between 5-7 for dinner. See Facebook for any current updates.

I became aware of program soon after it’s launch thanks to a prolific and far reaching social media campaign ran by local media maven, Taylor Eason of Cork & Fork Digital Media.

Taylor has donated her time and provides a great platform to connect the community with Sonoma Family Meal and the volunteers who make it all possible.

“I volunteered my time because I needed to do something besides sit at my house and work. Heather is a rock star and her brainchild, Sonoma Family Meal, speaks to me and my food and wine background. There are so many people who need help right now including many foodies. The caliber of meals that are being provided is pretty astounding so it’s great to help provide this service to people who want to eat well, especially under so much stress,” says Taylor.

See her facebook updates on the Sonoma Family Meal page to get the most up to date and current info on where, when, why and of course HOW TO HELP.
