Sonoma County Is Open, Visit Wine Country Soon

November 8, 2017 · by Amy Lieberfarb ·

There is a common slogan flowing among locals here in Sonoma: We Are Open.

Wine Tasting is like a mini vacation itself. An exotic location, new tastes, sounds, smells and experiences unfold with each new stop along the wine road. With hundreds of wineries to choose from, it’s time to start your journey. Welcome.

A very special and specific grape growing area marked by its unique and varying terroir and the wines…

This is Sonoma County Wine Country.

Dollars spent by wine loving tourists help to drive the local economy. Government revenue from taxes based on local tourism reached over $158 million a year and tourism employment totals 10% of the population in Sonoma County.*

Many people depend on the tourism industry to make a living and to put food on their family’s table. With the devastating fires in October of 2017, many are worried about dwindling tourist numbers in future days.

On any normal day, the wine loving crowds are out in full force in California’s Wine Country. The future should be no different.

It is beautiful here. And we have wine. Lots of it.
Just sayin’

The vineyards here are lush and full of Fall foliage… colors galore! They have been largely unscathed due to grape vines being so full of moisture making them more resistant to heat and sparks coming from flying embers. And there are vineyards EVERYWHERE in Sonoma County!

With hundreds of acres of planted vines in Sonoma County… drive down the country lanes and wine tasting room options are laid out before you. Choices, choices.

90 percent of the county remains unaffected by the fires. As you drive through the region, there are no closed roads or blocked access points in tourism areas of Sonoma County. In fact, as you drive around, it is easy to avoid any areas being rebuilt.

We are thankful for all those who support our region by visiting, donating or spreading the word.
SONOMA COUNTY: We Are Open.

You are invited to visit and experience autumn in wine country with foliage in reds, oranges, yellows, purples and more. It is like technicolor here.

Beauty in vibrant abundance.

The morning fog in Sonoma makes for beautiful contrast in photos and burns off early to reveal the blue skies above for sunny afternoons frolicking in the vineyards.

The events of October 2017 will be remembered and discussed for a lifetime. It has left an imprint on Sonoma and it has also helped to boost our spirit and our sense of community. We are Sonoma Strong and we will rebuild.

The dollars you spend in our region go to helping our community stay strong in these times of need.

Sonoma County has 100’s of options to choose from when it comes to wine tasting rooms to visit. Deciding which wineries to see is only half the battle.
