Siduri, named for the Babylonian Goddess of Wine, was the result of the two founders mutual love of Pinot Noir. These wine loving entrepreneurs, Adam Lee and Dianna Novy, left their native Texas and moved to the Sonoma County spending years working at small, family-owned wineries and learning the tricks of the trade.
The real pay-off of all that hard work happened as soon as the first release of Siduri Wines, in 1994, which was met with great critical success. Adam is winemaker and has been from the beginning til now. He is known as quite the local celebrity around town for his skills with the grapes.
The winery has an exclusive focus on cool-climate Pinot Noir. They produce ONLY single-vineyard, single-variety wine from twenty vineyards spanning from Santa Barbara, CA to the Willamette Valley, OR. With long-term relationships with some of the West’s most sought-after growers and vineyards, it is a real treat to taste through the Siduri bottle line up.
It is also a lot of fun here! In the tasting room , they believe…. “that serious wine and serious fun aren’t mutually exclusive”. With choice of casual or reserved seating in the lounge… Choice of wine by the glass, bottle, or even draft selections… Choice of food items from a small plate menu which rotates.
For our visit, the featured restaurant was Backyard Forestville who makes a mean fried chicken. And by mean… I mean awesome good.
Siduri’s Tasting Room can accommodate larger group too, business or casual and you can reserve space for private dinners, receptions, educational forums, etc. This spot is available seven days a week for your tasting pleasure. To start on a day of tasting, visiting a spot where wine is served with delicious food creations, is a good idea.
Adam met us to lead us through his story and our tasting experience – What a treat and fabulous education. Hearing the story directly from the person who created such a fabulous wine brand was a memorable moment along the wine road.
Hearing his stories also put a smile on the face of everyone in the group, he is a born storyteller, fantastically funny and also well traveled… all leading to a captivated audience when he speaks.
The Siduri wines captivate an audience and myself. They show a true sense of place in the glass and are dedicated to doing so.
The diverse vineyard sites all speak to you in the glass in a different tone of voice, each with it’s own personality too. Enjoy your tasting, I know you will. This is good juice.
