When I first heard that Patz & Hall were opening a new tasting room, I was more than excited. I have been a fan of their Pinot Noir for many years! Having the tasting room as close as Sonoma, California is terrific as I am able to visit often and also have a sip or two of course.
In June of 2014, Donald Patz and the Patz & Hall Wine label and Sonoma House were our 1st SonomaChat Guest Hosts, paired with the lovely Bettina Sichel from Laurel Glen Vineyards in Glen Ellen, CA. The wonderful Donald answered questions to our “chatters LIVE on site all the while, showing his hospitality with beautiful pours of the Patz & Hall Wines. We were able to Trend #1 during our chat, thanks to SonomaChat Ambassador, John Corcoran, for noticing this…haha. It is difficult to trend on twitter on a Wednesday night and I must say… Patz & Hall Guest Hosting with their awesome bottle line up, did the trick. They make some great wine.
I love the charitable works that this winery also does participate in as well as their Single Vineyard Pinot Noir line up being absolutely wonderful. When you are able to focus and concentrate on only two varietals of grape, that focus and balance show in the bottle.
They know their Pinot & Chardonnay for all you fans out there. The Chardonnay is wonderful to start as well but you know, I love my Pinot. They are well worth a visit when traveling to the city of Sonoma Wine Country.
I love the idea of an outdoor seating area for the spring and a lovely fireplace to relax next to inside for the Fall months. The design of the new tasting room pays attention to each detail and I’d love to meet the interior decorator. The open rectangular bar in the center is a lovely way to get to know the wines as well as your tasting neighbors. Or take a seat on the couch and have an intimate conversation.
This was the first time that I had met Donald, although I have a long time been a fan of his travels on Social Media and nice to hear of his recent marriage as well. Congrats to him on the opening of the new Patz & Hall Tasting Room as well as many a Happy Year of traveling to come for him and his beautiful bride…. Chin Chin
THE BIO –
From the website HERE:
Patz & Hall was founded in 1988 by four talented individuals – Donald Patz, James Hall, Anne Moses and Heather Patz. Together, they have turned Patz & Hall into one of California’s most highly regarded wineries, with a celebrated portfolio of single-vineyard Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines. Gap’s Crown was my overall fave…loved this. Must buy bottle.
To achieve their goal of making exceptional limited-production wines from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the four founders each focus their specialized knowledge and expertise on different areas of the winery’s operations. This integrated approach, along with a commitment to developing close personal relationships with many of California’s finest growers—people like Larry Hyde, Lee Hudson and the Martinelli and Pisoni families—have become the cornerstones of the winery’s success, allowing Patz & Hall to realize the highest levels of quality and consistency.
Patz & Hall makes all of its wines in a state-of-the-art winery in Sonoma designed by Winemaker James Hall. This purpose-built winery allows the Patz & Hall team complete control during every step of the winemaking process.
