I always enjoy an Endless Champagne Brunch while dining on Wine Country eats. Perhaps an eggs benedict might come into play. Yes, please.
Sunday brunch, as you can imagine, is a favorite time of the week for me. I am lucky to live where there are many great options for a Wine Country brunch within 20 minutes of my house. For today’s brunch, we opted for the kids favorite spot for breakfast and also for our staycations. They love the pool and we live only 10 minutes from the Flamingo Resort & Spa in Santa Rosa.
On this Staycation we had reserved a Suite. This allowed me to have my own room and the kids could all stay in other room with the TV and wall of windows style view of the pool.
It was my 11 year olds birthday and she had several friends coming into town to stay and they rented rooms as did we. We were surprising Cassidy by having her family and friends there and she had a great weekend with a sleepover with 5 of her friends and family. Although “sleep”over is pushing it…not much sleep was had. With a bachelorette party next door all night, no one noticed.
The Flamingo Conference Resort and Spa features a large outdoor pool and outdoor hot tub central to the hotel rooms. They also have an indoor swimming pool located in the spa building. The pool is large with poolside drink and food service which any parent can appreciate. They do not have lifeguards so the pool table service helps us to still order a glass of Pinot Noir without having to get the kids out of the pool. Mom Points. haha.
They had recently renovated the buildings and room interiors and I was impressed by the wall of windows with great views and the size of the suite was large, not like hotel rooms they build these days. The jack and jill style bathroom also made it convenient for both the guests staying in the living room and the on bedroom suite.
Balconies and redwood trees around for privacy are nice too. Dining by the pool under the stars is fabulous in the evening and so is the food!
Back to the Brunch. Every Sunday, the Flamingo serves a Sunday brunch at their Terrace Grill (on-site) from 10:30 – 2:00 with endless champagne pours. It’s Wine Country folks, and we know how to do it right here.
Although, I am picky about my champs and bring my own Prosecco. They usually pour a local champagne from Kenwood Vineyards which is nice. I just tend to prefer Italian style bubbly with my OJ. Chin Chin…
Anyone who had children is well aware of a child’s preference for buffet style eating if they had the choice. When compared to the option of ordering and waiting on food, kids will always opt for food NOW, and the variety of choices sure doesn’t hurt either.
Personally I dislike anything buffet just due to my own germaphobias and such….is that a word? But the Flamingo Sunday Brunch in Santa Rosa has a nice display, staff, fresh food and also is tended to well to keep everything presenting well after each round of visitors.
They have a great variety of foods from cheeses, crackers and fresh or roasted veggies to eggs benedict, crab legs, fruits and custom made omelets, they are sure to have something for most palates. They also feature a nice dessert tray, coffee, tea and assorted goodies like pastries and such. A more high end buffet focusing on a California style cuisine in my opinion.
The Terrace Grill has floor to ceiling windows along the entire length of the building allowing for lots of natural light and views of the pool and courtyard.
I am sure we will staycation at the Flamingo again soon. I have attended many events there that I enjoyed as well and my ex-husband actually trained to get his insurance license back in the 90’s and now holds Medicare Seminars in the conference rooms.
Cheers until the next visit.
