Along the urban wine trail, our next stop was the Banshee Tasting Room.
Hip and edgy with the nostalgic sound of vinyl spinning on the turntable, the location is a laid-back, friendly tasting experience featuring some fierce juice in the wine glass.
On your next wine tasting outing, stop and enjoy the vibes.
This intimate stop gives you a personalized one-on-one visit each and every time. The downtown adjacent location made it perfectly paired with our trip. While we walked across the downtown plaza to the other side we were able to get a better feel for the Healdsburg people and area.
The Banshee wine tasting room, which is tucked in among various boutique shops, features a vintage communal table in the center and several small areas to relax with your own personal group to taste and enjoy one another. Offering wines by the glass or bottle and tasting flight options.
Local small bites prepared by SHED in Healdsburg are available for purchase to accompany the wines if you wish.
We had the charcuterie and cheese to follow, yum! Pinot Noir is soo food friendly. The Rice-Spivak vineyard is a personal favorite of mine from another producer and it was fabulous to try it from Banshee, since it is the same wine-makers – I knew I would love it and I did. I took home a bottle of this and two of the Rose’, another fave. Hurry down, it goes quick!
Three friends from the wine business and circumstance started the winery in 2009. Since that time Banshee’s popularity has grown each year.
Banshee Wines has developed strong relationships with high-end vineyard owners in Sonoma and works in coordination with them to produce wines of depth, purity and balance.
The team was smart to recruit an A+ winemaking team, including Ross Cobb, Katy Wilson, & Tim Milos. Not too shabby.
“Lip-smacking Rosé of Pinot Noir, crab-worthy coastal Chardonnay, the gentle giant that is Mordecai, and of course, some of the best damn Pinot Noir in the country.” Sounds like the perfect place for a Sonoma cool climate wine lover to be… Sign me up.
Wines from the Sonoma Coast to Anderson Valley and a extremely fun wine club with uber fun events too. Distinctive wines that over-deliver in every possible way. Go have a taste. You can thank me later.
Both locals and tourists alike agree – Banshee Wine Lounge is fabulous and a must visit when in downtown Healdsburg. Due to this popularity – it is highly recommended to make a reservation in advance a few days because this intimate tasting room fills up and you don’t want to miss out! Contact info below.
BANSHEE WINES & TASTING ROOM
From the Website: “We started Banshee Wines in 2009 – three of us – friends from the wine business and circumstance, in San Francisco. We were all working day jobs in the trade: importing, marketing and making wine.
Without much of a plan, we decided to buy eight barrels of coveted Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir from a top producer. The wine was amazing, and the price was insanely low due to dropout of the $60+ per bottle market. We figured we would either sell the wine case-by-case to friends and family or at worst would be drinking great Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir for the next ten years (win-win).
Instead, between a couple of relationships we had in California and on the East Coast, we ended up selling it all in five weeks time. And so it began.
Over the past few years, we’ve grown up at Banshee Wines. We’ve developed strong relationships with high-end vineyard owners in Sonoma and work in lock step with them to produce wines of depth, purity and balance. We have recruited an A+ winemaking team, including Ross Cobb (Hirsch, Flowers, Williams Selyem), Katy Wilson (LaRue, Flowers), & Tim Milos (Stags Leap, Opus One). And in August 2013 we opened the Banshee tasting room, in downtown Healdsburg – a refreshing and relaxed take on your typical tasting room.
Our offerings have never been stronger. Lip-smacking Rosé of Pinot Noir, crab-worthy coastal Chardonnay, the gentle giant that is Mordecai, and of course, some of the best damn Pinot Noir in the country.
The Banshee Wines mission remains the same as it was in those early days – to craft distinctive wines that over-deliver in every possible way.”
